Why use virtual visits?

  • Open up appointments for patients who need in person visits (for procedures such as biopsies, injections, surgeries).
  • Retain patients who might otherwise leave your practice (moving out of state, going away to college).
  • Increase convenience for patients and parents.
  • Generate revenue during after office hours without increasing overhead.
  • Increase your production per patient seen in your physical office.
  • Improve patient wait times.

How are visits billed?

Visits are billed with the same CPT code/level as if the patient had been seen in the office.  A modifier is added to the procedure code for the insurance to know it was a virtual visit.

Is it difficult to schedule a virtual visit?

It is incredibly simple.  The patient simply clicks on the book appointment link on the homepage and they choose a date/time that works for them.  Dr. Serota will initiate a video call with the patient at that time.  Many practices simply give the practices card with the www.dermfacetime.com link on it to direct a patient to a virtual visit.

How would Dr. Serota be related to our practice?

He is an independent contractor.  He carries his own medical malpractice insurance and is licensed in 24 states.  A physician must be licensed in the state where the patient is located to perform a virtual visit.  The physician does not have to be physically located in that state.

How does Dr. Serota document/bill?

He will use your EMR system and billing.  If you prefer he can generate a generic note to be filed with the patient chart and a manual billing sheet.

Is there any added overhead for our practice?

No, Dr. Serota is paid based on a percentage of production which is the same for most dermatologists.  There is no added overhead for the practice.  There is no base salary or minimum requirements.

Who is Dr. Serota?

Dr. Serota is a board certified dermatologist.  He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Colorado Denver.  He is also board certified in allergy/immunology and pediatrics.  He practices conservatively and in accordance with published guidelines.  He is considered an expert on various dermatologic and allergic subjects and lectures nationally.
